Translation: 'WE'RE TOXIC!!!' as said by the other group's Clinical Instructor.

Okay, so today was our first day of duty and we were assigned to OM (Ospital ng Maynila/Hospital of Manila) SICU (Surgical ICU).

It was our first day and the CI was pretty nice. She had us do things slowly and had us reviewing (*cough* illegible handwritings *cough*) for most of the day. Shift was 6a-2p, now changed to 7a-3p

Then around 12:30 the patient in the SICU ward (we were in the supervisor office across it) had an emergency and we were called to 'observe' what the nurses and doctors did.

The patient was a victim of multiple stab wounds and had pneumonia (which later convinced my classmates to get a pneumoccocus shot at a nearby center).

It was...eventful and our CI declared him "na-Sharon Kuneta na yan" (later secretly in our room) A term I learned today for saying no hope/dead even if the heart is beating and the patient is breathing.

I think I lost my appetite (Nawala na sikmura ko...*sobs*). ON OUR FIRST DAY!!!!! A PATIENT DIED ON OUR FIRST DAY!

....

Well at least I didn't get a violation slip. Rumor is, if a student gets a slip on the first duty he is cursed to receive one on every duty after (not that I believe it but my seniors do, and I'd rather be safe than sorry).

Sigh..the CI let us go early because she didn't want to expose us to Post-mortem care yet. (We have a nice Clinical Instructor, WHOOPEE)

The other group in the ER had a nicer time though pity the people assigned to OR since they don't have a scrub suite yet, no scrub suite, no duty XD. And the people in Cardinal Santos got bored, the classmates in Jose Reyes got dismissed early *cries*.
